Dr. ronald e. mcNair, nasa astronaut
Ronald McNair was an MIT-trained physicist who specialized in laser research before joining NASA in the late 1970s. In February 1984, he became just the second African American to reach space, serving as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. On January 28, 1986, he was one of the seven crew members killed when the Challenger shockingly exploded 73 seconds after liftoff.

Our team of amazing volunteers are vital to the core mission of our team. The Men of McNair mission is committed to producing the next generation of future leaders and entrepreneurs within our schools and communities. Our volunteers’ “mentors” add a value of wealth and knowledge needed to help develop men of good character, integrity, and honor. We are always seeking mentors as well as young men seeking to make a difference in their community. Come join us and make a difference---We are the “Men of McNair.”
oUR hISTORY
The Men of McNair was founded on the principle of Dr. Ronald E. McNair, who believed that “the sky was full of possibilities, and all you had to do was spread your wings and fly.” Our organization was started in 2014, by James “Tony” Riley as a way to provide young men at-risk opportunities to achieve and reach their fullest potential.
Since the founding of the “Men of McNair" in 2014.. Our program has a 100% high school graduation rate. What does that mean? Once a young man enters our program, they will have access to mentors, who are prepared and committed to developing life skills, character development, conflict resolution, and problem solving to name a few. We are more than just an organization, we are a family! .
Mentees are exposed to a wealth of cultural experiences such as College Tours, Arts and Theater, Camping, and other Educational based-experiences. Many young men have gone on to excel in non-traditional fields, due to their discover of new ideas and opportunities.
